about

AboutIn June 2009 the Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital (Pendlebury), Booth Hall Children’s Hospital and St Mary’s Children’s Department joined together, moving into brand new accommodation on the Manchester Royal Infirmary site.

After the move, the new Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital will be the biggest specialist children’s centre in the UK.

It will provide general paediatric care for the local population of Central Manchester and specialist care for children throughout the North West.

About Paediatric Critical Care

At the heart of the hospital is Paediatric Critical Care. Here, the very sickest children in the hospital are treated ranging in age from newborn to 16 years.

Every year over 1000 children require critical care. For more information about the Paediatric Critical Care Department please look at their website www.rmch-picu.net

The new department is a great improvement on the previous facilities based at Pendlebury with more space for patients, staff and families.

However, the hospital was planned over ten years ago and since then there have been massive advances in the equipment and technology available to treat critically ill children.

Unfortunately, as this technology was not planned for, it will not be supplied.

About ManCCCF

Manchester Children’s Critical Care Fund (ManCCCF) was set up as a registered charity (No. 1125623) to raise funds to support the hospital’s critical care team. This will allow them to provide the very best state-of-the-art care and facilities for our children.

We want a Children’s Critical Care Facility that will be the envy of others and one that the North West can be proud of.

Our initial target is to raise £1,000,000. This will enable us to buy a portable CT scanner and a Computerised Clinical Information System.
